Behind the Science: Why the Million Dollar Facial Is Worth Every Penny

Immersed in Liverpool’s vibrant Ropewalks district, Bold Street Clinic offers a luxurious skincare experience that goes beyond traditional facial treatments—the Million Dollar Facial. Designed to rejuvenate and transform, this advanced treatment combines modern techniques with high-grade products to deliver radiant, glowing skin. But what makes it truly worth every penny? Let’s explore the science backing this revolutionary skincare treatment and uncover its value for your skin.

The Advanced Techniques That Define the Million Dollar Facial

The Million Dollar Facial isn’t your typical skincare treatment. This procedure harnesses the power of advanced techniques, carefully orchestrated to deliver maximum results. At our Liverpool skin clinic, we offer a variety of Million Dollar Facials that mix and match the following, tailored to your needs:

Microneedling for Enhanced Skin Renewal

Microneedling is a procedure that creates tiny, controlled punctures in the skin using medical-grade needles. This stimulates collagen production and accelerates cellular repair, resulting in smoother, firmer skin. Microneedling also enhances the absorption of active ingredients used during the facial, ensuring deeper penetration for superior results.

Dermaplaning for a Flawless Finish

Dermaplaning is another phase, where a sterile blade gently removes dead skin cells and fine vellus hair (peach fuzz) from the skin’s surface. This step enhances the skin’s texture, reduces dullness, and provides the perfect canvas for the remaining stages of the treatment.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage for Detoxification

A relaxing lymphatic drainage massage promotes the removal of toxins, reduces puffiness, and enhances circulation. This technique helps to sculpt and define facial contours while rejuvenating the skin from within.

The Million Dollar Serum & SPF50

The finishing touches that elevate the results of the Million Dollar Facial. Packed with potent active ingredients, the Million Dollar Serum nourishes and hydrates the skin, promoting elasticity and a radiant glow. It penetrates deep into the skin to deliver essential nutrients, ensuring long-lasting results. To protect the rejuvenated skin, a high-quality SPF50 is applied, shielding it from harmful UV rays and environmental damage. This essential step locks in the facial’s benefits while providing critical sun protection, helping maintain a youthful, healthy complexion.
The variety of facials we offer at our Liverpool aesthetic clinic all vary based on our client’s individual needs. Explore the options here or speak directly with one of our experts to determine which is suited for your personal requirements.

Industry-Leading Products for Unparalleled Results

We adhere to using and promoting only the finest skincare products in the aesthetics industry to complement the Million Dollar Facial. These formulations are rich in antioxidants, peptides, and vitamins, delivering nourishment and protection to your skin. Our carefully selected serums are tailored to your skin’s unique needs, ensuring optimal results every time.

Why Invest in the Million Dollar Facial?

Multi-Layered Benefits

The Million Dollar Facial doesn’t just address one skin concern—it offers a holistic approach. From exfoliation to hydration and anti-ageing, this treatment targets multiple layers of the skin to achieve long-lasting results.

Customised to Your Skin

Every facial at Bold Street Clinic is tailored to the individual. Whether you’re dealing with fine lines, acne scars, or dullness, our experienced practitioners adapt the treatment to meet your specific needs.

Immediate & Cumulative Results

Clients often notice a brighter complexion and smoother texture immediately after the treatment. With regular sessions, the benefits compound, leading to dramatic improvements in skin health and appearance.

Our clinic is led by Dr Paul Effiong, a renowned expert in facial aesthetics in Liverpool. Under his guidance, every procedure is performed to the highest standards, ensuring safety, efficacy, and a comfortable experience.

As the light at the end of the tunnel seems to be just in sight, meaning less restrictions and hopefully resuming some much overdue normality. You may have noticed, last year the government plans to help in the fight against obesity.

Living with excess weight puts people at a higher risk of serious illness or complications, if contracting COVID-19. According to governments statistics, 8% of critically ill patients with COVID-19 in intensive care units have been morbidly obese compared with just 2.9% of the general population (link here). This information shows us that there could potentially be a problem for many and the NHS as restrictions ease.

Research in the UK taken place in 166 hospitals with over 16,749 participants, has suggested that people who are obese are 33% more likely to die with COVID-19 (link here).

Why could this be?

The reasons behind this are still being explored. In the early stages of the pandemic, experts quickly linked the following health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and coronary heart disease amongst many others, to higher rates of mortality for positive COVID-19 patients. As we already know, these health conditions are greatly linked to obesity.

In light of this information, the government have been focussing on how they can help in the fight against excess weight and obesity. With strategies such as banning the advertisement of high sugar, high fat foods before 9pm, when children are most likely to be influenced. Another tactic, placing high fat, high sugar foods in less convenient places in supermarkets, such as by the entrance and checkout.

With the recent dramatic change in how we live our lives and a big focus on our mental health, there is no better time like the present to address any weight concerns you may have.

People struggling with obesity had a 55% increased risk of developing depression over time. People experiencing depression had a 58% increased risk of becoming obese (link here).

If you would like any professional medical advice on weight loss treatments, you can book now for a free consultation with our specialist weight loss doctor.

In a world full of ideals and self help, it can be hard to know if what you’re doing is really going to befit you positively or even have any effect at all!

We’re increasingly seeing a lot of ‘Self Care’ advice floating around in all areas of our life, from social media and TV to advertisements for drinks and even furniture?! So, what is self care to you? Is it sat in front of the TV binging on your favourite Netflix series? Your nightly skin care routine? or is it taking yourself off for a long hike in the woods?

What is the definition of self care?

According to Wikipedia the definition of ‘Self Care’…

Self-care is any necessary human regulatory function which is under individual control, deliberate and self-initiated.

What does that mean?

Basically, selfcare is the practice of consciously doing things that preserves or improves your mental or physical health.

What are the benefits?

By improving your physical and mental health you are taking control of your life and overall health. This releases feel good hormones such as serotonin, giving you that feel good feeling and wave of feeling upbeat.

Can we have too much self care?

If your go to self care regime is sat in front of the TV eating a bar of galaxy, do you think if you did this for 3 days straight you would feel good about yourself? Or if you like to run but ran for 6 hours straight every day, how do you think that would affect your body and most importantly your metal health? Like most of the good stuff in life, you need a balance.

Our conclusion

Self care is a great way to check in with yourself, give yourself a break and take stock of what makes you feel good. So, if you fancy a pamper, or you need an extra hour in bed then go for it! But if you find yourself skipping work for the third day in a row and cancelling plans for the fifth time to stay in and watch Tiktok videos until 3am, have a think if your self care habits could have turned toxic.

If you want to take control of your self care in the form of your nutrition, diet or skin care. visit our website for services and advice we offer.

Our day to day lives have drastically changed in 2020. We are spending more time at home, less time outdoors and possibly eating and drinking all the things that we shouldn’t be. As well as an increase in stress levels and lack of sleep, this is all having a negative impact on our skin.

So, what can we do about it?

First and foremost, manage your stress levels. When we are faced with stress, our adrenal glands produce an increase in cortisol, which is great for helping us to deal with a stressor but it also increases sugar levels in the blood stream and an increase in sebum, which may be the cause of skin breakouts. Take some time each day to relax, do some yoga, read a book, or focus on a hobby. Anything that will relax your mind.

Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!! Drinking 8 glasses of filtered water daily will help your body get rid of toxins. Water promotes gut health, aids in nutrient absorption and will give your skin a healthy radiant glow. If you do not enjoy plain water, try adding slices of fruit to a glass of water, like orange and lemon slices or cucumber and mint leaves.

Nutrition – we are what we eat and so is our skin. If we consume inflammatory foods like refined carbohydrates, processed food, sugar and alcohol, our skin can look tired, dry and be prone to breakouts. However, if we nourish our skin by eating a healthy balanced diet, including protein, healthy fats, complex carbohydrates and fruit and vegetables we will be rewarded with nourished, healthy looking skin.

Some good food choices:

Fatty fish

Like salmon, sardines and mackerel contain omega-3 fats, vitamin E and zinc which are all especially important for skin health. Fatty fish is also a good source of protein, which is important for the strength and integrity of our skin. A deficiency in omega-3’s can cause dry, damaged skin. Aim for 2 to 3 portions of fatty fish a week.

Sweet potatoes

Contain beta carotene, which is converted into vitamin A in the body. It acts as a natural sunblock and may prevent dry, wrinkled skin. Vitamin A is essential for collagen production and controls keratin, which makes up most of our skin cells. A bonus to eating a high amount of beta carotene, is a possible warm healthy glow to the skin. CARROTS, WINTER SQUASHES and CANTALOUPE MELONS are other good sources of beta carotene.

Red grapes

Contain resveratrol which slows down the effects of aging and they make a perfect afternoon snack along with a handful of nuts. Unfortunately, drinking red wine does not have the same effect. Sigh!

Sunflower seeds

Nuts and seeds in general are packed with skin boosting nutrients. An ounce of sunflower seeds, for example, contains vitamin E, selenium, zinc and protein. Just 2 brazil nuts a day provides your daily requirement of selenium. Selenium stops free radical damage, preventing wrinkles forming and is also important for skin cell membranes. Add seeds and/or nuts to soups, salads, cereal or yoghurt.

Other important nutrients for your skin include vitamin C, B vitamins and collagen, which are important proteins for skin health, found in meat, fish, citrus fruits and red and yellow vegetables.

Finally, don’t forget your skin care routine. Cleanse, exfoliate (twice weekly), tone and moisturise your skin daily.

If you incorporate the above into your daily life, you will not only notice a boost to your energy and mood but will also enjoy a brighter, clearer complexion to show off to the world. Beautiful healthy skin is only a few steps away.

Keep an eye out for offers on our chosen skincare line, Teoxane.

With news from the government last week that a new three tier system of COVID restrictions comes into force in England it’s understandable that people are experiencing feelings of worry and despair.

Concerns about the virus, our loved ones, jobs, finances and what the future holds are overwhelming and may take a toll on our health. While we don’t have all the answers, we offer some tips and guidance to help you care for your physical and mental health while trying to navigate through this extremely difficult time.

Tips

Eat a balanced diet of whole foods, including protein, healthy fat and complex carbohydrates. Pile your plate high with vegetables and keep yourself well hydrated.

Get active!! Aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise each day if you are able to. Physical activity releases our happy hormones and gets our heart pumping. It is also a great stress buster.

Stick to a daily routine. With many of us working from home and/or facing changes in our daily lives it is easy to let good habits slip. Try to add structure to your day. Get up and go to bed at the same time, eat at regular meal- times and add in times for focused productivity, to help you feel more in control.

Talk about how you are feeling with a trusted family member or friend. This is so important to help us keep a check on our emotions. It is perfectly normal to have feelings of despair, worry and helplessness due to the current situation. Reach out to your loved ones by phone, email or video call on a regular basis.

If watching the news and reading social media updates about Covid-19 are causing you stress and worry, try to limit your exposure. Perhaps just watch one news bulletin each day, to keep yourself informed but not overwhelmed.

Find some enjoyment in each and, every day. Revisit your favourite hobby or try something new. There are lots of ideas online depending on your interests. It can be a great distraction from the news and a way to boost your mood.

And of course, continue to follow the government guidelines on social distancing and familiarise yourself with which lockdown tier you are in.

Stay positive and safe!
